Germany had no interest in capturing Dr. Mengele because he was not considered a high-ranking war criminal and was not a prominent figure in the Nazi regime. Additionally, by the time the war ended, Mengele had already fled Europe and was living in hiding in South America. The German government was more focused on capturing and prosecuting the top Nazi leaders who were directly responsible for the atrocities committed during the Holocaust.
